Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic Day 6

After the overnight squall conditions it was a more subdued fleet at start fishing – and slightly smaller with a few withdrawals for the day due to the weather conditions. We were first through the opening at the bottom of Number 10 and it was a fair bit lumpy, let me tell you!

And a slower day fishing-wise as well. Four fish for the first sked for Amokura, Sparticus, Iona and Top Shot – the highlight being Top Shot‘s 900lb-er for angler Tomonori Omi – and then it was quiet all through the middle of the day. Capt. Brutus on Fascination, made the most of a rare appearance at the reef this week to take top honours for the day with two fish at 400lb and 150lb late in the day at Yonge Reef for angler Ivo Veliscek.

I don’t have telephone service at this stage so no reports from outside of the competition but I will update if anything comes through.

Current standings:

Going into the final day’s fishing, Viking II have the lead with 7 tags from Top Shot with 6. KEKOA are on 5 on countback from Iona (Trent). On three are Mistress, Little Audrey and Calypso. On two are Jag, On Site, Reelistic, Iona II, Kalira, Amokura, Spartacus and Fascination. With one each are Ikey Moe, Castille III, Game Over, Maitai, Hattitude, In The Black, Rat Bag, Hard To Swallow and Moana III. All 24 boats are on the board.
