The NSW Interclub Tournament report is the post below. Forgive me for two tourney reports in one day however I may not be able to get online in the morning so I’m planning ahead!  Thank you to Surfers Paradise Sport & Game Fishing Club President Mat Stehmann for the tournament reports – by all account the tournament was a great success and boats competing enjoyed a great social event, if not the weather!

With 32 boats fishing, unfortunately the weather did not play nice for competitors on the first day with some very testing conditions.  In all, 6 blue marlin were tagged and an additional 3 blue marlin and one black marlin dropped.  Day two, and with the weather not improving significantly, produced only 3 blue marlin tags and an additional two blue marlin and one black marlin dropped.

There were also 8 other species tagged on Day 1 and 29 tagged on Day 2!

The Champion Boat Overall trophy was won by Kaos with 2 blue marlin and a dolphin fish.  Kaos also took out the 7.5m trophy in the Heavy Tackle Division.  The the Champion Boat Under 7.5m Heavy Tackle was won by Trophy with one blue marlin and a tuna. Champion Male Angler Heavy Tackle was Nathan Wakefield with the 2 blue marlin and Champion Female HT was Ceri Nicoll with one blue and a tuna tagged.

In the Light Tackle Division, Champion Boat Light Tackle over 7.5m was won by Num Nuts 2, while the Under 7.5m category was won by Always One Bigger. Champion Female Light Tackle was Ceri Nicoll again and Champion Male Light Tackle was Drew Gessner.

Champion Small Fry was Riley Dunbar and Champion Junior was Lauryn Dunbar.
