Cairns to Lizard Island

Sorry for the delay everyone – the internet black hole got me again this morning!

At the Island last night we ran into Casey and Ben from Levante who were also happy to enjoy a quiet day in the bay after a very satisfying tournament. Not only did they tag a monster fish during competition, but they also tagged a second fish that they put right up there after cease fishing on Saturday!

Back out again straight after the tournament, Capt. Brett Goetze on Reel Chase made up for any slight disappointment for not making their big one a point scorer by getting straight onto a double header at Number 7 Ribbon for new guests from Sydney. While Brett said one of the fish was a smaller male, the larger female was a very solid 900.

And right up the top, Capt. Tim Richardson on Tradition is fishing Jewel Reef and surrounds throwing poppers for GTs and the like and released a juvie black marlin behind the reef yesterday morning.

I don’t have phone service now but will update this report if anything comes in throughout the day.

Yeppoon Little Blacks

Scott “Puddles” Coulter’s Bit Me Marlin Charters reports their season is still going well and they are averaging 3-4 little blacks a day. The bait is holding on the banks 15nm to the NE of the harbour and with a few more trips left to go for the season, we hope the fishing continues.

This photo is of Scott’s wife Sharon with her first marlin (with decky “Smurf ” on the left and Capt. Scott on the right).
