Light Tackle Week

light-tackle-week

What I’m calling light tackle week starts today with the another of the North Queensland light tackle season tournaments, the Cairns Bluewater GFC’s Billfish tournament, starting on Wednesday with the briefing, and fishing from Thursday.

I’m hoping to do a few Periscope broadcasts this week service depending starting with a ‘scope of the Sailpast on Thursday morning. Sign up for a Periscope account to get the instant notifications when we are going live for a broadcast.

Weekend Report

Overall it has been a bit of a quiet weekend on the reporting from with just the one report coming in.

Ash Warland in the Whitsundays has been playing host to Botany Bay GFC boat Maddness and fished yesterday showing the boys the local grounds.

They went 1 from 5 black marlin with an 8kg model taggedto Joe Pereira.  Ash reports one of the missed was a small sail about 4 kilo and the rest were small blacks between 5-8 kilo.

Positively tiny for this time of year!

Photo above another from Capt. Mark Parkinson’s Black Label from last week.   It’s been a bit of a hit and miss season thus far up here for the little fish.  After last year’s very impressive tournament results (as a reminder the report is here – 178 tags [168 black marlin and 10 sailfish] over the three days) it will be interesting how this year’s results notch up.
