Heading out

heading-out

The fishing has continued to be tough on the reef. While there are still nice fish being caught every day, as well as small fish around, there’s a fair bit of time between bites for many!

With the cold water on the edge, some boats have headed wide for a look-y as we tend to do. And a report in from Capt. Daniel Carlson’s Little Audrey via Capt. Dean Beach on Onsite who both fished wide to Osprey Reef, is of big fish of the blue and black variety. Little Audrey released a 700lb black marlin and also caught a 920lb blue marlin which is a very big blue for our waters!!

On the edge I heard word of a big fish for Capt. Darren “Biggles” Haydon on the Bounty Hunter, and some smaller fish for Capt. Simon Carosi on Steve Thomas’ Reel Chase, the day before, and a smaller fish both Tuesday and Wednesday for Capt. Craig “Sparra” Denham who is on the Iona 2 this week as well.

We’re heading out of phone range ourselves for a couple of days so will be offline/off-the-blog for a day or two. Stay tuned for catch up reports and pics from Capt. Dan when I get back!
