Ending 2015 on a (stripey) high

What a great way to kick of their Port Stephens season as well as to see off 2015 with reports from the Lee family’s Gunrunner of a day of hot fishing yesterday.  Scott tells me they started the day by switching a double header on 8 and 10 and got both fish.

In the afternoon, the bite came mainly on skip baits and slow trolled teaser lures.

They ended up with 5 from 7 including three fish on 8kg all for Chloe (Taylor) Laurence. Scott said that the fish ranged between 60kg and 110kg, with most in the upper size range – so some good 10:1 tags in there!

A few boats tried live baiting with no success, so Scott recommends anyone coming Port way will need to hone their skills on skip baits or lures. They are back out again today to give it another crack, and the fishing should only get better now as we move off the moon.

Meanwhile Hugo Van Zyl sent me the above pics from Gold Coast black marlin caught on Boxing Day by Hugo on Levi Taylor’s boat Callin in Sick with crew Otto Volz and Craig Leadoux.

And from the Sunshine Coast, Conor Lynch tells me that he was out on Game Plan (5.3 Cruise Craft) with Dan smith on Sunday before the big blow came through and went 1 from 2 blues.
