Interclub, Coffs and SEQ

I haven’t heard much from the Interclub this year. I’m not sure how telling that is re: the fishing though I do believe it was quieter this year, but the leading boats certainly did find a few.

NSW GFAA have provided the links to the final (provisional) scores which I have included at bottom but a quick summary of the winners is:

Local MP Bob Baldwin’s crew on The Omen tagged 7 black marlin for Bob on 10kg line to take the T&R win by a narrow margin from Capt. Scotty Thorrington’s Freedom with 6 blacks and a hammerhead.  (Also giving Bob the Champion Male gong).

Scotty must have made for a very nervous Omen team after a quiet Day 3, storming home with 4 tags on the final day.  Expert photog David Granville was on board and snapped some great pics (above and below).

Chloe Lawrence fishing on Side Effect took home Champion Female with all 5 black marlin tags for her team.  Champion Club T&R went to Sydney GFC (Team 2) for the second year running.

On the Capture side, the Heaviest Shark was a 283kg mako to Scott Blackburn on Redemption, while the Heaviest Marlin was a 134.50kg blue marlin to Tristan Davies on Doghouse.

Champion Team (Boat) Capture was Gloriana with two blue marlin, while Champion Club Capture was Lake Macquarie GFC Team 1.

Coffs Coast

The Solitary Islands Game Fishing Club was in the thick of it on the weekend with blues, blacks and wahoo. Wicked Weasel had an early start to the weekend with a blue to Jason Werrett (his first) and a 60 kilo little tacker to Liam Williams from four bites on Friday. On Saturday, Seaborn blitzed it with a blue to Ross Smith, another to Gary Amiguet, and a bonus wahoo from four bites. Birthday girl Fiona McGinty got a 140 kilo blue on Alcatraz, and Wicked Weasel missed three blues, but nailed a consolation prize black on the way home — expertly wound in by Liam Williams who has found his groove.

On Sunday, Karen Garcia on She’s A Dream tagged a 60 kilo blue, while Astrid Linjawi on the newly refurbished Matador scored a stubborn 100 kilo fish and a 20 kilo wahoo. The photos show Fiona McGinty hooked up on Alcatraz, Jason Werrett with Liam Williams’ blue, and Liam Williams with a black.

Gold Coast

And a catch up report from the Gold Coast on the weekend – I missed it yesterday I’m sorry!  Jeff Wregg on Barco sent me this shot of their blue marlin on Saturday.  They also released a black 15 minutes before hooking this one with a 4-3-2 for the day!
