Late Season NSW Stripes & Mooloolaba Day 1

late-season-stripes

With the stripes so late to show, hopes for a late season were buoyed when they eventually did show. And some late season great fishing yesterday – some of the best numbers of stripes we have seen so far – have us hoping that its not over yet!

Fishing south of Sydney in his Big Banana Anthony Dimech had an epic day fishing with a 11-8-8.  Anthony said that they found some massive congregations of bait from top to bottom with fish all over it and marked over 30 fish for the day!

South off JB,  Brett “Changa” Chain on the 21 Spearfish Nothing Heard  did two half days from 11-3pm (don’t you love those late starts!)   for 8-7-6.  Changa tells me that all the fish were solid stripes in the 80-120kg range and were all caught on 15kg tackle.

How good are the trailer boats getting amongst it!

MGFC Billfish Bonanza

The results from the MGFC Billfish Bonanza Day 1: 13 boats and 48 anglers competed with the day’s final fish tally a 12-9-7  including 1 tagged blue marlin (for Luna) as well as 3 non-qualifying mahi mahi and 3 non-qualifying tuna.

1 blue, and 1 black marlin were also dropped. Unfortunately fishing was very quiet and conditions overcast with some rain periods. The sea was sloppy with some swell.

Hopefully better luck today!
