Wind low down

Still some good fish around though yesterday numbers seem a bit slower than the day before and mostly smaller fish. Capt. Haydon Bell on Kanahooe bucked the trend with a big fish and a second around the 600lb. Capt. Bobby Jones on Iceman caught 4 at 200, 400, 600, 800 (!) and Capt. Tim Richardson on Tradition finished his day off with two after the 6 o’clock mark for John and Kenny. And Capt. Brett Goetze on Amokura likewise 2 from 2 on little fish as well.

I also had a message from Capt. Brad Craft re: the three granders from yesterday and I think its good to write this all down for memory purposes and would love to hear more if anyone is aware.  Brad says that if his memory is correct, Doug Haigh wired as crewman 3 world records Pacific blue 1376, black 1320 odd (Georgette Douma), and an Atlantic blue in St Thomas over 1000.  Brad also recalls a Swedish angler he had in the 90’s that had the pacific blue grander, Cairns grander black with me, the great white 2000lb plus and was trying for the 1000 lb tiger shark with Brad for several years and they weighed one at 972lb!

There are several anglers that have the Black, Pacific blue and giant bluefin and Brad’s going to give me a bit more information about that (to come).

30th Annual Groote Is Billfish Tournament
