Cairns summer season of sails continues!

Capt. Darren “Biggles” Haydon on Bounty Hunter tells me that they have been getting them most trips and yesterday added a reef black to the mix making it a top day on the water with clients for 2 sails, the black and a yellowfin!  Taking advantage of some really spectacular calm days on the water as well! Capt. Damian Collette’s Saltaire released a sail among other species, as did Luke Bird’s Cgirl on Friday.  Capt. Ross Finlayson’s Top Shot continues to get them on his light tackle trips as well.

Meanwhile the progression of little (and not so little) blacks down the coastline continues. Capt. Craig “Sparra” Denham on Hot Shot released a 40lb model on a half day Friday.

And boats are enjoying great success off Port Mac for the start of the Garmin 2017 Golden Lure!

Representing Newcastle/Port Stephens GFC club boat White Dog managed a grand slam on Day 1 (black, blue and stripe). 47 boats are fishing this year’s tourney and Day 1 was off to a great start.

Lastly, a massive fleet of 53 boats are also fishing the Central Coast GFC’s Bluewater Classic this weekend which wraps up today. Tournament report to come!
