Weipa Ladies Day

Scenic Helicopter Cooktown

The Weipa Billfish Club’s Annual Ladies Day competition was held on Saturday with 16 teams/boats competing.

The theme for the tournament was “Pirates” and the best boat dressing was judged at Evan’s Landing during the sailpast.

The first points were on the board with a sailfish for Raise D Sails angler Sindi Morely and although more billfish were seen, that was the only billfish on the first sked.

Club boat Pink Bits was next with the first black marlin of the tournament, a first billfish for angler Natash Zajac. The boats converged on the spot where Pink Bits hooked up and the majority of fish were caught there. Over the next 3 hours another 8 billfish were tagged leaving Pink Bits and Treasured Chest battling it out for the win on 3 tags a piece.

In the end it was the other gamefish weighing that decided the winner with Pink Bits taking home the champion gong.
