SEQ & NSW hot weekend ahead

seq-weekend-ahead

A big weekend of fishing ahead in SEQ with the weather and fishing turning it on for Moreton Bay GFC’s annual Back to Tanga comp (Back to Tanga 10) this weekend.

Yesterday boats on both coasts again found the fish with Jay Graham’s Chaos recording its first grand slam on the Sunshine Coast yesterday as part of a 6 from 8. Jay says they were 4 blacks on 15kg, 1 stripe on 15kg and 1 sail on 8kg – all on dead baits trolling over 100m including a double hookup – black and stripe. Dee (pic below ) was responsible for the sail and 4 blacks with Ian picking up the stripe on the double!  Other Sunshine Coast club boats recorded fish too including Sicario 1, Pole Dancer 1, and Raising Havoc 4 yesterday.

At Fraser Island, Capt. Brett Alty’s Mistress tagged their 100th blue marlin of the 17/18 season yesterday which is a great milestone to reach and potentially the first on the east coast in a season!

Sails on the Gold Coast too with Jesse Hill’s Reel Teaser tagging 5 – 4 blacks and a sail yesterday. While Capt. Craig “Sparra” Denham’s Hot Shot also recorded 2 from 3 blacks. Great action shot from Tara at top.

Capt. Ross McCubbin’s Lucky Strike put keen fly fisherman Tim Kempton  onto a 35 kg black on fly yesterday. Ross says its been steady fishing down there!

And an updated from Mojo’s recaptured black marlin last week also on the Gold Coast. The fish was originally tagged off Port Macquarie by the boat Secret Men’s Business (PMGFC) on the January 6 and estimated at 30kg. As Ryan says its very interesting to see that this fish has traveled some 220nm north and seemingly unaffected by the fight, tag and release. Fantastic data coming in from the tag and release program!

The fish are still biting post Interclub. Capt. Daniel Carlson’s Little Audrey added 5 more stripes to their season tally on Wednesday. Previously they were up to 57 marlin in 15 days fishing!

And Shane Dwyer ticked solo blue marlin off the bucket list on Wednesday as well taking Carnage back to Broken Bay solo with a blue in 15 mins! That followed up from his solo stripe the week before going the opposite direction!
