Juvie Black Marlin in Townsville and Cairns

Another weekend and another weather opportunity for the boats up north to target the juvenile black marlin.

Over the weekend, the better action was certainly off Townsville with the Nicolosi family’s Zuri recording a 4-4-3 yesterday for the day to the north. Jack tells me that the fish were between 10-15kg, super healthy and the one they did lose was tail wrapped. Other boats fishing to the south including Cool Change with 1 from a double header and Kiama also with 1.

Jack said that they also fished from the northern to southern grounds during the week (and during the cold snap) and raised 5 for the day split between the two – but with the cold, the fish weren’t having a bar of switching making for a frustrating outing!

Off Cairns, Andrew Tivey ventured out solo in Hook-In for a couple of hours on Saturday and was rewarded with this little fella (below) off Oyster Reef.  Andrew said he ventured out again Sunday with his son in pretty ordinary conditions for 2 bites and no cigar!

Andrew said there is plenty of whales traffic out there as well!
