Lake Macquarie Big Fish

While the full tournament report is not yet available I received a report from Andrew Thompson who fished on Mick Taylors boat Khe Sahn . Andrew reports that while most boats on the shelf found good clean, warm water with big numbers of baby flying fish, the marlin were few and far between.

On Khe Sahn it took until 4.30 on Sunday (!) afternoon to attract a solid bite and they were finally hooked up on 24kg tackle.

The result was a 4hr fight ending in boating a nice blue just on dark. After a long run home it was weighed at midnight and went 178.5kg and the biggest marlin of the tourney.

Andrew says he would like to thank the game base for the extra hours they put in to track them all the way over the 30 mile run home and keeping the weigh station opened so late.

Khe Sahn: skippered by Michael Taylor with crew, Aaron Speechley, Cameron Alcroft(on the rod) and Andrew Thompson.
