Fish where the fish are!
A live aboard charter allows your skipper to keep you on the fish! It gives you the flexibility to be fishing where the fish are as they move location up and down the reef. We are fishing a 150 mile stretch of reef and this flexibility to move. For live aboard charters, trips of 4-10 days duration are typical.
Maximising your fishing time
No long runs to and from the fishing grounds. Live aboard charters give you the advantage of maximising your fishing time with the boat often anchoring just minutes from where you are fishing. We anchor in the lee of the reef breakers and fish on the other side.
Explore the Great Barrier Reef
Spend the morning swimming or snorkeling on the reef, or sport fishing for bait or fish for the dinner table, before heading out to chase the big girls on the edge.
Calm water reef anchorages
Live aboard marlin charters give anglers a real reef experience and allow you the best opportunity to see and explore the Great Barrier Reef!
From the morning when you wake peacefully on board your game boat in your calm water anchorage, you are literally minutes from the giant black marlin grounds. No need to waste time on traveling each day!
And already being on the reef allows you to enjoy the very best the reef has to offer from some morning sport or bait fishing behind the reef, to a snorkel and swim among the spectacular corals.
Generally we consider the giant black marlin to keep gentlemen’s hours and so you can fill your morning with other activities before heading outside the reef. Each boat’s exact routine will vary, but mostly this would be about 10-11am.
Late Bite – Bite O’clock
The close proximity will likewise keep you on the fishing at what we like to call ‘bite o’clock‘ – that special time at the end of the day as the sun starts to wane in the sky… The Cairns fishery is well known for the late bite.
Then it’s a short 10-15 minute run to your anchorage behind the reef once again where you can enjoy great food and drinks (which may include freshly caught seafood or tasty Australian beef!) with your companions and the crew and review the days footage. [Most boats are equipped with an assortment of fixed and Go Pro type cameras these days.] And get ready to do it all again tomorrow!
