Updated: After a quiet couple of weeks on the billfish front its good to have the reports coming in again!

SEQ – Fraser & Sunshine Coast

A few of the juvenile blacks have already moved through to the Sunshine Coast though they are still being caught at Fraser Island. KEKOA’s Luke and Kelly Fallon fished their 21 Caribbean Senshi yesterday for 5 from 5 off Breaksea. A few more boats will be fishing over the next week so look forward to hearing how they go.

On the Sunshine Coast, SCGFC club boat Alchemy was christened with a black for Scott Phillips while Ben Massurit weighed a pending Australian sailfish record at 49.5kg on 8kg line.

Mooloolaba GFC’s Tag Ends fished off Mooloolaba a couple of days ago tagging a sail and a micro black for Jarryd King. Jamie reports that it looks like there were a few micro blacks in the area with the water temp at 22.5 degrees.

Weipa

The sails and a few blacks mixed in for Weipa club boats to start off the new club year. Duane and Linda Jay’s Get N Any was 2 from 3 sailfish Tuesday after Ben Bright and Fifi on Last Cast caught the first sail of the season fittingly on July 1st. Darryl French also added a 4-4-2 solo on sails late last week.

Exmouth

The blacks are fishing well in Exmouth with Peak Sport Fishing going 3-3-3 yesterday putting their junior anglers onto their first billfish.

Queensland Fisheries Proposed amendments to the Fisheries Regulation 2008

A reminder to all Queensland fisho’s to have your say on proposed changes to Queensland Fisheries legislation bag limits including by 19th July via these links:

Of particular note to our industry is the proposal for a 20per person general possession limit of 20 for any species that doesn’t have a current limit which has the potential to affect our bait fishing.
