Townsville Billfish Challenge Day 2&3

townsville-billfish-challenge-day-2-3

Just a quick note to start, while we’re experiencing a little slow fishing here in Townsville, I heard from Broome FC’s Jeff Cooper who tells me the sails are going off in Broome right now with boats getting 20-30 shots a day! Just what we wanted to hear :-)

Teams head into the final day of fishing here in Townsville today with just a couple of fish in it – but with only a couple of fish tagged a day, its a hard ask for the teams chasing.

In the big boat category: The team on board the Mackay based Emma Kate have lead from the outset with 3 from 4 tags on Day 1, adding a fish a day since and now lead with 5 tags. President Tom Hatrick’s Utopia return to Bowling Green yesterday after fishing Day 1 & 2 at the reef and tagging a sail a day out there, to tag two blacks yesterday to shoot into 2nd place with 4 tags.  Just behind on countback on KEKOA with Capt. Luke Fallon, we tagged our token black marlin of the day yesterday to also put us on 4 tags. Game On and Levante have three tags a piece from Dejavue and Silverback on 2 and Reel Crazy, The Chapel and Castille III on one.

In the small boat category: Anthony Florence’s Flotation added two tags on the first sked of the morning on Day 3 to take back the lead with 3 tags from Hardline, Maximus and Ruffian who are all on two. One one each are Pina Colada, Screamer and Tomcat.
