2016-back-to-tanga-8-day-1

Report from Nick Currey, President of MBGFC, and a great start to the comp!

“Moreton Bay GFC GARMIN “Back to Tangas 8” tournament kicked off yesterday with 31 boats entered, 92 anglers and 17 crew. Based at the club house on Moreton island this annual 3 day event is been held in some 15 knot lumpy weather after the cyclone passed earlier in the week.

With boats fishing between Mooloolaba to Gold Coast the boats had a ripper day in trying conditions. Tally for the day pending final sheets was 47/41/33 with 14 Blue marlin, 6 Black marlin, 1 Striped marlin, 1 Sailfish tagged. Eleven other fish weighed or tagged.

Leading boats are: Light tackle “Bladerunner” with 4 tags.
Heavy Tackle: “Kaizen” with 4 tags and ” Big Business” with 3 tags and other boats on 2 tags.

Saturday is day 2 fishing which should see better conditions and a “Carpark” forming  in the heavy tackle grounds on a great Blue bite. Saturday night is a island party in true Tangas tradition with a Sunday presentation.

Updated results on Sunday. “
