Juvies & sails making themselves known in NQ

From the Whitsundays through Cairns, finally some more reports of juvie black marlin and sailfish as light tackle tournament season edges closer.

On the Whitsunday’s Capt. Ash Matthews released a sailfish on Saturday on board Reel Work which followed up from a juvie black released on South Pacific 2 (pics above). The Sea Fever stable just keeps getting bigger with all the new vessels!

Off Townsville at Cape Bowling Green the O’Brien family enjoyed the day on the water with a black and a sail both for Val in a 4-3-2.  Leigh said that there were also plenty of the usual mac tuna around. I heard that Micky Dykstra’s Reel Crazy also accounted for a sail as well.

Back in Cairns, after the good numbers around in June, they have been harder to find since (and harder to find a break in the weather!) but Jay Edwards put his son Jet onto his first marlin for the year and number 3 overall on Saturday. Jay followed up with another for marlin virgin Dan Gunn yesterday making it 2 from 2 for the weekend!
