Telstra Cairns Bluewater Billfish Tournament Day 2

telstra-cairns-bluewater-billfish-tournament-day-2

Day 2 of the Telstra Cairns Bluewater Billfish Tournament was a similar day of fishing to Day 1 except with mostly different boats finding the fish.  There were a few more fish on the scoreboard with 30 tags added by my count.

Capt. Steve Ahler’s Hellraiser got the ball rolling with the first tag just 10 minutes after start fishing and the fish continued throughout the day with the hottest period that between the second and third skeds.

Capt. Chris “Sharky” Miles on Levante got on the board with two tags including the fish pictured above.  Puts the size of the fish into perspective!  Capt. Darren “Biggles” Haydon’s Bounty Hunter also got on the board with a black and a sail.

Carribean Dream had a dream run on the first sked with a 3-3-3 but couldn’t add to it for the rest of the day.

Overall leader Amokura (Capt. Brett Goetze with owners Darren and Nicole Sandy and family on board) held position adding another fish to bring their total to 5 tags. While Capt. Damian Collette’s Saltaire added two to put his team into second place with four.

There are several boats on three tags including Remisla, Askari and Carribean Dream as well as plenty more on two’s and one’s.

Final days fishing today. Good luck to all!
