It’s on!

The first heavy tackle black marlin report of the 2016 Cairns marlin season is here. And the word is that the marlin are here also.  Capt. Ross Finlayson and team on Top Shot have just wrapped up five days of fishing with 6 blacks with the biggest a fat rat around 400, plus a couple of 300s and little fellas.  They’ve been enjoying mornings fishing for GTs and mackerel and only fishing for marlin after lunch. But what a great start for heavy tackle when many are still enjoying results on light tackle.

**Reminders the Innisfail Billfish Comp starts this week – see the calendar for more information.  And we have 5 days now until entries close for the 50th Anniversary Black Marlin Tournament Cairns & AIBT 25-30 September.  Enter online here.

On the light tackle side Capt. Darren “Biggles” Haydon on Bounty Hunter wrapped us his LT season with a top week of 5 fish in 3 trips. While Capt. Damain Collette’s Saltaire also released one on his reef/sport fishing trip.
