Weekend updates SEQ & NSW

weekend-updates-seq-nsw

Some weather interrupted fishing in SEQ on the weekend slowed incoming reports and affected the 25 boat fleet fishing the Gold Coast Garmin Light Tackle Masters. But before the weather set in boats fishing the Sunshine Coast continued their run with Rough Dimond a 2-2-1 on 4kg on Friday (photo) and Oatie 5-3-3 black marlin and a wahoo.

Likewise several boats tagged blacks on Day 1 of the GCLTM on Friday also before the weather kept a few of the fleet off the water on Day 2.  Tournament report to come!

NSW – Boats fishing the weekend Port Hacking point score also notched up some fish with  The Outlaw 1-1-1 T&R black marlin to angler Lee Fretten (Fishing 3 up with Hayden driving, Lee on the Rod and David Joyce doing the tag and trace duo!). Warlord also went 1-1-1 T&R black marlin to angler Danielle Bailey (her first Marlin) and same for  Orca 1-1-1 T&R black marlin to Chris Cleaver.

And a report from Scott Lee who fished with partner Tash out of Ulladulla yesterday on the 21 foot Salt Shaker. They first headed up towards JB to find the temp break which had heaps of skipjack and flying fish on a 1 degree break. The cooler water was crystal clear and blue, and they managed a dolly around 8kg. Meanwhile Charlie Dale on Teaser had a double header on a stripe and a black at the Ulladulla canyons and were marking a few other fish, so they raced down there to join the action.

Upon arrival Tash got the massive bite on the skipping slimey (south coast slimies are massive !!) and after a 90 minute fight released a nice black around the 140kg mark on 15kg. Well done Tash!! Scott said they had one other bite from a striped.  The Watson boys on Mayhem tagged a stripe as well and missed a couple others.   Scott reports there was plenty of bait near the edge but a lot of the bites were away from the bait.
