And so it really begins!

and-so-it-really-begins

Big marlin season has begun and the big marlin report has come in overnight from the happy crew on board Capt. Steve Ahler’s Hellraiser. On deck for Steve again this year Tony Carpenter reports this XL model for Russell Bowman of the Lure Shop in Cooktown. Russel and his wife Monique have a history of big fish on the Great Barrier Reef and we ecstatic to watch this big girl swim away after a good fight in trying conditions! Tony says they have been averaging a fish a day but nice to put a big one on the board.

A few other reports from the last few days Capt. Tim Richardson’s Tradition released two fish on Thursday while Capt. Casey Dent’s Zulu also released a coupe of smaller models on their first trip of the season.

SEQ Gold coast to Fraser

Brad Dobbin’s Special K relocated to Fraser Island this week for fishing up there and Brad reports they caught a nice stripe on 15 and 2 blacks on their way up – let’s hope it’s a great season!

Central Coast little blacks

The juvie blacks have left North Queensland and Todd Atfield reports he’s found where a few are at on their annual migration south!  Todd says that he traveled down to Yeppoon on Thursday fishing off North Keppel we went 5-2-1 on small blacks and found big yakka schools!
