Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic Results

Fishing on the final day of the tournament was a bit of a let down for boats competing with only two fish tagged for the day, both on southern reefs and nothing at all up the top.  Iona 2 tagged a 300lb-er for Noel at Linden Bank and Hard To Swallow tagged a 400lb-er for Tim Ballintine at Number 3 Ribbon Reef.  Unfortunately, neither boat made it back to the island for the presentation and so the daily award for the final day’s fishing was not awarded.

As tweeted, the leaderboard did not change for the final day as top honours went to the team on board Viking II with 7 tags with second place to Top Shot with 6, third place to KEKOA on 5 and on countback from fourth place Iona also on 5.  Rounding out the top five in fifth place was Mistress.

Tomonori Omi on board Top Shot was Champion Male Angler with all 6 of his teams tags while Brian Luecke on KEKOA was runner up with 4 of our 5 tags.  Champion Female Angler went to Sue Ahlers on Iona also with 4 of their 5 tags.  A very big thank you must go to tournament director Bob Lowe for putting together another great tournament that has to be one of the best in the world.  Unfortunately, the weather did not play nice this week and the marlin went a little MIA–but that’s fishing!
