Swimming with a black marlin

Once again I don’t have phone service and so I will be sure to update if any messages come in this morning.  Yesterday was another quieter day on the reef as most of the fleet moved to the south.  I did get some awesome footage from the boys on Tradition, with deckie Carl taking a swim with an estimated 250lb black that was following their baits.  As Capt. Tim says “this fish had a go at the big bait and then just followed for ages, so I knew we were not going to get another bite, so I said to Carl, go have a look if you want! He grabbed his flippers and mask and here’s the result!”

If you have a look at my channel on YouTube (Keruko), I’ve also added some favourites of others clips including Ben’s solo sailfish from the other week. I heard from Ben in Weipa again yesterday when he released another billfish, this time a black marlin about 150lb. Ben also says he’s tagged 17 sails already this month – not bad when you only rarely get the chance to target them!

Also, the Mission Beach Annual Challenge has now been rescheduled for November 6/7.
