More Bowling Green Black Marlin

The Townsville Game Fish Club nominated the weekend as their second round ‘All Ports’ and so there were a number of club boats taking advantage of the better weather.  All up I hear that 13 marlin were tagged between the three boats fishing ‘All Ports’ and probably about 20 all up. The juniors were getting in amongst the action including the boys on Zuri as well as 15 year old Thomas on Midnight who tagged his first (and second) black marlin on Sunday.  Michelle tells me that they were out and fishing by lunchtime on Saturday although all the action for them was on Sunday with a 10-7-4. Two marlin each for Michelle and Thomas.  On Monday they had just the one up before heading home.

Michelle also reports the boys on Viagra, also fishing “All Ports”, caught 6.

I was also talking to Scotty Hillier last night as he has been up here in Weipa for a the Weipa Fishing Classic that was held over the weekend and he tells me that he knows of several little blacks (5) caught off Cardwell as well so it sounds like they are all along the northern coast.

I’m not too sure how they ended up on billfish for the tournament. No doubt if Ben (Notso) was entered he would have lead from the front with his three sails. As it is, Darren fished in the same spot on Saturday and  saw 2 blacks and 4 sailfish and caught one of the sails which was the only billfish of the comp to that point.

Photos to come!
