Heading to Lizard Again

More of the fleet are moving north as we are just one day away from the start of the 2013 Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic.

Private boat Kyrenia, skippered by Capt. Damon Gruzdev fished Number 4 Ribbon for two fish at 300 and 800lbs on his way north. Nearby Capt. Tim Dean on Calypso released one about 400lb as well.

Moving up to the top, Capt. Jim Dalling on Billy The Kid raised 5 and converted 2 before heading into the island for a day of R&R before the tourney. He had a whole pack of fish up at once including a couple of big ones in the mix.  And back down at the bottom and spending the night at Opal Reef, Capt. Kim Andersen on Bounty Hunter converted another 1 from 2 for Andrea.

On Number 5, Capt. Sharky Miles on Kanahoee finished up with another fish at 350lbs before heading in to Cooktown. Likewise on KEKOA we put one more on the board for George as well before heading in for changeover. I also saw Capt. Brad Craft’s Castille release one there too before we headed in.

It was a busy night in Cooktown with several boats in for the night before heading up to Lizard – I took the shots below of Cooktown’s fisherman’s wharf this morning so you get the idea.
