PDMC Day 2 & the reef

Port Douglas Marlin Challenge Day 2

Better fishing for competitors on Day 2 of the PDMC with 6 tags and also two big fish reported.  Capt. Casey Dent’s Zulu tagged 2 to take out the daily including one that he put at 1000lbs for angler Rick Chadwick.  Christian Chapman’s Reel Cross likewise put his fish for angler Laurence Gatto.  Other boats tagging including Hellraiser, C-Girl and Duyfken putting Duyfken ahead on countback to Zulu.

Outside the comp

The glamour weather continues as boats spread up and down the reef. While the fishing has slowed again, there are still several catching each day.  Capt. Darren “Biggles” Haydon’s Bounty Hunter fished Thursday for two fish including a nice one that he put at 900lbs.

Yesterday Capt. Ross Finlayson on Top Shot went two from two – two fat rats.

While Capt. Craig “Sparra” Denham on Hot Shot put new meaning to the late bite with a 300lb-er which bit at 6:30. Likewise, the Irvine’s Kamikaze was hooked up when we returned to the anchorage at the same last night (photo top) and I’m told it was a successful release in the dark.
