Big fish and the drone footage

I love what this season is producing in terms of the photos and footage as drones are finally finding their home on the Great Barrier Reef. Of course the recent run of great weather helps!  Internet woes aside, Tara has finally been able to upload some of drone footage of their 850lb-er for Matthew from the other day. You can watch the big jumps behind the boat and close to the drone at the bottom. Well worth a look!

As Capt. Tim Dean on Calypso says its not everywhere in the world you can catch big black marlin and big blue marlin in a single day.  This season has certainly reinforced there are big blue marlin around and that requires more attention! Tim went 2 from 5 yesterday with 3 of the bites being blues that resulted in one at 450lbs and the other two black marlin resulting in one that he put right up there at 990lbs!

Capt. Ashley Mathews on Reel Easy says that it had been a quiet few days for him but they got the one they wanted, again on a late bite with the fish (top) the biggest that Ashley said he has notched up yet. They are back out again tomorrow.

Capt. Tim Richardson on Tradition fought his fourth big fish in as many days yesterday with another real nice one that unfortunately came unconnected about 50 feet from the boat when a shark bit through the line. But he also converted two smaller fish with a 2 from 5.

And Capt. Craig “Sparra” Denham’s Hot Shot also converted one about 400lbs for Matthew again (check out the drone footage below from their last fish).  While Jamie Behren’s on Capt. Russell Caporn’s Kaizen reports 1 from 2 yesterday with a 500lber for Greg Caporn again.
