Mini marlin migration

mini-marlin-migration

Updated for Saturday: The Wood Ducks at it again with Jarrod King’s Flatliner releasing 2 from 3 for Daniel Couchman and Reel Lady tagging 1 as well.

It’s good to see the juvenile black marlin making their way down the coast. This week Ant Dimech (Big Banana) went 7 from 7 on the NSW North Coast as the fish make their way through. Anthony report that makes 16 for him in the last 3 trips which is awesome fishing. Good news ahead of the Port Macquarie Golden Lure which starts today so good luck to all competing. I hope they get among the fish!

The fish are still biting meanwhile on both coasts in the leadup to the light tackle comps. On the Gold Coast its the this weekend. On the Sunny Coast the its not long until the Sunshine Coast Garmin Gamefish Classic (31 Jan – 2 Feb) and Mooloolaba GFC Billfish Babes (Feb 8).

Sunshine Coast

On Wednesday the Wood Duck’s Jarrod King continued his great run in his new boat Flatliner with a 5-5-5 including a first marlin for his father and caught the other 4 himself.  Joel Grattidge on Pitch Black hosted the juniors on an absolute glamour day with 4, mostly switching including 3 for daughter Chloe and 1 for Bryce.  Bryce followed up the next day with dad Deano Bartelson on their boat Outta Line for 3 more tags including a first marlin for his buddy and his father!

Luke and I took our Game & Leisure Caribbean Senshi down for a couple of days for a double header in two from 4 on Wednesday followed up by 2 from 2 Thursday in a half day. Some shots I got of the action above. More Woodduckers on Diamond Star and Never Home also added 1 each Thursday.

Ryan reported his dad Ian Meads from Mackay GFC released a black marlin on Enigma off Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast this week also of a total 8-6-2 overall.

Gold Coast

Ryan Lewis reported to me he got his first black marlin on the Gold Coast early in the wee in his trailer boat Ryan said it was an awesome experience watching it swim away. Oska Davis reports Mr Pig went 3-3-3 black marlin yesterday (Friday) on the Gold Coast.
