Capt. Ross McCubbin reports still good fishing off the Goldy over winter with boats seeing up to 5 a day blues as well as plenty of stripes. Out on Reel Busy with at 160kg blue for virgin Marlin angler David and a 60kg stripe for Craig. Ross said they also straightened hooks on another nice blue. With plenty bait and big striped tuna out wide the fish might stay all year!!
And video from David Granville fresh from his A4A sojourn across the country with a first stripe for Blake on Reel Capture on Sunday.
Rob Vearing sent me a few more details about his and wife Jennifer’s weekend fishing during the Townsville GFC Monthly Club Comp (comp results previous report). As Rob has recently had shoulder surgery and still not 100%, Jennifer was angler.
Saturday Jennifer went 4 – 3 – 2 ( 2 x black marlin. ) And after a great day they decided to fish again Sunday.
Sunday Jennifer went 11 – 9 – 6 ( 4 x black marlin, 2 x sailfish ) including a fish they disqualified and 3 x tuna.
Making a weekend total of 15 – 12 – 8 billfish.
Rob says that he is very proud of Jennifer who, in her early 60’s, is no spring chicken any more but she can still catch fish! Well done Jennifer and Rob!
